A Message from the Master of Linwood Lodge

JANUARY 2007

My Brother,

One of the benefits of being Master of the lodge is presenting service awards to our long time members. One such time was on December 28th around 4:pm. On that day I met with our District Deputy, George Koehnke at the home of Brother Carl Shook to present him with his certificate and pin for 65 years of membership in the Masonic Fraternity.
93 years young, Brother Shook has a very sharp mind. When he was introduced to RWB Koehnke he recognized the name as someone he was in Delta Chapter with years ago. Turns out it was George’s uncle Lou, who was also a former police officer.
Brother Shook gave the lodge his apron and bible to be placed in the archives of the lodge. A very generous donation. He has lots of great memories of his time in masonry and it was a pleasure for RWB Koehnke and I to spend some time sharing them with him. Congratulation Bro. Shook!
I don’t have much to talk about this bulletin, as we were dark over the holidays. I hope you had a happy holiday season. Now Let us start out the New Year with a fresh outlook!

I hope everyone made a resolution to a least attend lodge at least once this year. The inspection night would be a great time to do this. It will be on April 26th in the Fellowcraft degree. Or maybe you can come on a night of a special function, i.e., Sweethearts Dinner (Feb. 10). The indoor picnic, golf outing or the Lodge Picnic.

January 25th Mr. Frank Stanton will be initiated into the first degree of masonry. He is our long time tenant and has decided to see what we keep hammering on upstairs. He says it takes him at least five hits to drive a nail, but we seem to be able to drive the nail in only three hits all of the time.
At our last stated meeting we got a petition for plural membership from WB John Raley. While visiting he informed us about RWB Sowers, who is recovering from his cancer. He is doing better. We also hear that since his hair has grown back, he is looking better than ever.
He is slowly starting to get out and about. Charlie, you are in the thoughts and prayers of all of us at Linwood.

In closing, I just want to remind you that our Sweethearts dinner will be on February 10th, with dinner starting at 1:00pm. There will be no charge and our Banquet Steward, WB John Phelps, has promised to cook something fantastic for the ladies. I am looking forward to seeing you there.

Wishing the best for everyone!

Until next month,
